Disturbed sleep makes men infertile

Sleep disorders negatively affect male fertility, as the experts found out. The men sleep less, the lower their chance ever to experience the happiness of fatherhood.

 Disturbed sleep makes men infertile
Researchers from the University of Southern Denmark found that young men who suffer from lack of sleep, have a 29% worst performance sperm count Than those of their peers who sleep well at night. If young people regularly sleep less than six hours a day, it not only reduces the quality of sperm, and even reduces the size of the testicles.

Apparently, the night's sleep directly affects the ability of the body to produce male sperm. Danish researchers have conducted the first study found a link between sleep disorders   and male fertility. They studied 953 young men with an average age of 18 - it is almost the peak of the "male productivity." Normally, at this age, young people are the highest in the whole of their life quality indicators of sperm.

All young people have handed over samples of their semen, so that researchers could evaluate them on a number of key parameters, including the speed of movement and sperm count . Then the obtained data were compared with the information about the quality of sleep study participants. This quality is defined by two criteria: the total duration of a night's sleep, and the number of awakenings during the night.

Scientists hope the findings will help to later develop a new methodology for the treatment of male infertility, in which the emphasis will be on healthy sleep. Experts recommend to sleep at night not less than 7-8 hours. (READ MORE)
