Can a diet low in salt to help stop snoring? The researchers found that excessive salt intake contributes to the formation of obstructive sleep apnea.

Brazilian researchers divided 54 patients with obstructive sleep apnea into three groups. The first was given diuretics pills (diuretics), the second held a diet low in salt, and the third control group did not even conducted any treatment of snoring . Exactly one week, the scientists decided to compare the results. And diuretics, have lowered the overall diet and salt level in the body of patients. Meanwhile, an excessive amount of salts leads to the accumulation of body fluids. When a person is in the supine position, the fluid rushes to the throat that leads to a narrowing of the air passages and as a consequence, obstructive sleep apnea.
Diuretics cause the kidneys to increase the volume of salts such as potassium, washed out of the body in urine. Furthermore, these drugs generally promote the excretion of excess fluid from the body. (READ MORE)
