Want to live a long time - eat less! Scientists have found that a decrease in our diet by 40% can extend life expectancy by as much as 20 years!
Researchers from the Institute of Healthy Ageing at University College London are developing a new therapy, with which hope to win the "disease" called old age. We study the question of how genetics and lifestyle can be transformed to minimize the symptoms of age-processes, pushing them for decades.
This will also delay the onset of age-related illnesses, and as cardiovascular diseases, cancer and neurodegeneration. During a series of experiments, the scientists noticed that lifespan rats can be greatly extended by simply reducing its ration of 30%.
Scientists have observed flies and fruit flies, which is 60% identical to human genes, and mice. The researchers were able to extend the life and fruit flies, and mice with the use of special drugs and modified diets. Perhaps this would be the combination and effective in humans.
Dr. Piper and his colleagues have learned to make the single mutated genes, as well as to reduce the effect of mutations that cause Alzheimer's disease. However, all studies on the ways to increase life expectancy, lasted only 10 years, so that the findings can be considered as long as theoretical.
