Science has received new evidence that daily doses of fish oil allow to support the youth of the brain. It turned out that people with low levels of omega-3 in the body cope with the worse on the memory tests.
Eat more fish, if you want your brain to remain young. That is the conclusion drawn by researchers from the University of California at Los Angeles. Of course, it is not their own discovery - on the impact of Omega-3 the functioning of the brain has long been discussed. But US researchers have another proof of that.
They scanned the brains 1575 people with an average age of 67 years. It turned out that people in the body are not enough docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), the brain volume was significantly less - it reduces with age faster. DHA belongs to the class Omega-3 Which, according to science, help nerve cells communicate with each other. Rich sources of this acid is a fatty fish, including salmon, mackerel and sardines.
In general, the lack of fish oils in the body decreases (old) brain for two years faster than those who get enough omega-3. In addition, the lack of these acids leads to poorer results on tests of memory (including visual), problem solving, multi-tasking and abstract thinking.
There is a perception that Omega-3 reduced inflammation in the brain and play an essential role in the development and regeneration of nerve cells. Therefore, doctors recommend to eat fish dishes at least twice a week. Do not forget about fatty fish or supplements fish oil .
