Retinal damage restore nanotubes

An international team of scientists has created a unique prosthetic retina. It can even restore sight to the retina of aged, or in various diseases of this vital organ.

Nanoprotez already tested in the laboratory. The study is published in the scientific journal Nano Letters. The new revolutionary device consists of a semiconductor nanorods and carbon nanotubes. It is possible to create a wireless light-sensitive film, which replaces damaged retina .
The device tested in chickens that are poorly sensitive to light, especially at dusk. Tests have shown the absolute efficiency of the invention. Compared with prostheses that have been used previously, it is more compact, flexible and well stimulating neurons.
"New compact prosthesis, unlike previous designs that used a metal wire or to sense light. In addition, the new material has a high spatial resolution, "- said Professor Yael Heneyna from Tel Aviv University, who led the research group.

Nanoprotezy   will be a real salvation for people over 60 who have vision decreases due to age-related changes. The main advantage of the new device is that it stimulates the visual commands by means of light, instead of wires or metals which send sensory signals to the brain.
Anytime soon nanoprotezy retina   will test on humans. (READ MORE)
