Dogs protect children against asthma

Researchers from the University of California believe that the presence of dogs in the house to protect the child from asthma. And many parents just shield their children from domestic animals of the fear of allergies and diseases of the lungs.

In fact, the dust in the houses where keeping dogs, children's organisms provide protection against the spread of the respiratory virus associated with the development of Asthma   children. It's about respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), common in infants. The more severe symptoms passes infection, the greater the likelihood that the virus will result in the formation of asthma.

Scientist UC Kay Fujimura found that dust from homes in which live dogs, is significantly different from the dust of the houses where the animals are not kept. He then exposed laboratory mice exposed to a "dog dust" and RSV infected. A second group of mice was also infected with RSV, but they breathed normal air.

After a while it turned out that the first group of mice did not develop symptoms associated with damage to the respiratory tract RSV, such as inflammation and mucus production. A rodent in the second group all the symptoms were there, and many subsequently become victims of asthma.

Dr. Fujimura said that the "dog of dust" found microbes that colonize the gastrointestinal tract of man, causing the immune system protects the body from asthmatic pathogen RSV.
