Survivors of cardiac arrest threatening cancer

The people who had suffered a cardiac arrest and later enhanced susceptibility to cancer. This increased risk of cancer, scientists explain the side effects of the treatment of heart stress due to illness. The connection between heart failure and cancer risk has been established by the American scientists from the Mayo Clinical Center.

"Survivors of cardiac arrest are not only at increased risk from the point of view of the development of cancer, but also the increased risk of death among cancer patients", - says its director Dr. Roger Veronica.

11-year follow-up 596 patients from Minnesota who survived cardiac arrest, showed that patients who had heart failure between 1979 and 1990, the risk of developing cancer was 48% higher. For those patients who have experienced heart failure in the years 1991-2002, the probability of developing cancer was increased by 86%.

According to scientists, after a cardiac arrest in the treatment of human requires a multidisciplinary approach, warning the likelihood of chronic diseases, not just treatment, with emphasis on one only heart disease. (READ MORE)
