Belly fat is different from the fat on the hips

Belly fat is different from the fat on the hips Scientists have found that belly fat and fat on the thighs grows differently. In one spot fat cells increase in size, and in the other - in quantity.

The difference, which built up reserves of fat, the scientists can explain why belly fat   is a certain threat of disease, and the fat in the lower body, on the contrary, lowers the risk. The study involved 28 volunteers who were allowed to eat almost anything they wanted only, including ice cream, sweets and high-calorie drinks. The study lasted two months.

On average, the participants in this time recovered at 2, 5 kg of fat in the upper body 1 and 8 kg in the bottom. Doctors from the Mayo Clinic, the experiment was conducted, and then describe it to the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

"The cellular mechanisms are different, - said study author endocrinologist Dr. Michael Jensen. - Accumulation belly fat is caused, mostly, by the fact that fat cells   increase in size. But the fat in the lower body is provided by increasing the number of cells. Different mechanisms mean different effects. "

This finding challenges the idea that the number of fat cells   in adults remains stable. In addition, new evidence received, and the theory that the increase in production fat cells   in the lower part of the body can somehow protect the upper part. It is about preventing the so-called metabolic disease.

A person can develop metabolic syndrome when a whole group of conditions, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, insulin resistance and excess fat around the waist. All this increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes and other ailments.
