Group of Chemical and Bioengineering at the University of Auburn, Alabama United States led by Mark Byrne were created two types of contact lenses.
One is meant only for the delivery of a variety of anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic drugs and antibiotics directly to the organ of vision.
The second can be used for its intended purpose, ie for vision correction. Eye drug-impregnated developed Byrne and his colleagues, can deliver the necessary medicines due to the peculiarities of its microstructure.
As a result, drugs come regularly and evenly. Patients who use such therapeutic lens completely eliminates the need for constant application of eye drops and ointments which erode within thirty minutes after application.
