Poor sleep accelerates the development of cancer

Poor sleep at night may accelerate the growth of malignant tumors and make them more aggressive. That is the conclusion reached by researchers from the University of Chicago.

Poor sleep accelerates the development of cancer bad dream

US scientists found that cancerous tumors in genetically modified mice, who slept fitfully, proved over time to two times more than in rodents receiving normal night's rest. It turned out, bad dream   at night adversely affects the immune system. Moreover, a noticeable change in the degree of tumor growth and cancer aggressiveness the mice could be noticed after 4 weeks.

That damage to the immune system is believed to be the authors of the study, suppresses the body's ability to control the tumor at an early stage, or even destroy them. This is the first study to model animals demonstrates the negative effect poor sleep   on tumor growth. However, science has at its disposal a potentially very promising direction for cancer therapy.

"It's not a tumor, it's in the immune system - says study leader Dr. David Gozal. - Poor sleep when a person sleeps fitfully, constantly waking up, causes changes in the immune system, fight cancer. These changes make tumors more aggressive. Fortunately, our study showed a potential direction for drug therapy. Toll-like receptor 4, is a biological transmitter allows you to control the activation of the immune system. Apparently, this is the basis for contributing to the development of cancer effect of lack of sleep. In mice with low levels of the protein We have not seen anything like this. " (READ MORE)
