Late threatens children with autism

Late threatens children with autism Children born to either parent older than 35 years are more often victims of autism. This is the conclusion, researchers from Denmark and the British University of Cambridge.

They found that age over 35 years old at the time of conception or mom or dad, and increases the risk of autism   at their unborn child by 27% compared with younger parents. Previously, it was assumed that in this matter more importance has only maternal age. But the researchers found that crossing the milestone of 35 years and the father and the mother are equally affect the risk of autism.

However, if both parents at the time of conception have already crossed the age threshold, in this case, autism in children occur with the same frequency as in other families. Overall, the researchers studied 1, 3 million children born in Denmark from 1980 to 2003. These studies are published in the journal Annals of Epidemiology. In Russia, autism occurs, on average, every hundredth child.

Particularly high risk of autism   arises if one of the parents before 35 years old, and another from 40 and above. If the mother is older, the risk of having a child with autism is increased by as much as 65%, and if the father, then by 44%.

Last week, another study found that men have the disorder occurs more often than women (1 in 50 to 1 in 300). Now, new data that shed light on the origins of autism. So far, scientists know very little about that of the biological chain of events that leads to the development of the disorder, so more research is needed.
