Italian researchers conducted an experiment with 12, 5 thousand people. All participants who are patients of clinics in Milan, divided into two groups. The first accepted capsules with omega-3 fatty acids, and the second - placebo olive oil.
During the experiment, it became known that dietary supplements have not been able to prevent atrial fibrillation patients. Over the entire study period, approximately 12% of the participants of the experiment in both groups moved stroke . Project leader Dr. Mario Negri explained that the incidence was at the level of 11, 7% of participants in the first group, which took fish fat and 11, 9% - among other - a placebo drink.
Previously, scientists believed that the omega-3 fatty acids help to reduce the content of harmful fats in the blood, prevent the formation of blood clots and the development of inflammation in the blood vessels, thus preventing heart attacks and strokes.
