Children born with low birth weight are more prone to the risk of autism

Scientists have conducted research related to the body weight of the newborn and the subsequent development of autism. These studies were conducted in the nursing school at the University of Pennsylvania. For the experiment was selected from a group of 1105 children with birth weights less than 2 kg.

After 16 years of age were examined 623 of them using questionnaires to identify autism spectrum disorders. When subjects were under 21 years old, it was carried out repeated survey with 189 participants in the experiment.

And as shown by the results, including the level of study of autistic disorders has appeared five times higher than that of children born with normal weight.

Although scientists have previously found an association between low birth weight and problems with cognitive and motor skills, concluded that low birth weight may lead to the development of autism, made for the first time.
