American researchers have found that women who consume alcohol in moderation, there is much less high risk of stroke. It is lower than that of those who do not drink.
Scientists from the Medical Center at Boston University tracked the health of 83,578 women who participated in a national study, Nurses' Health Study from 1980 to 2006. At the beginning of observations in all women was not diagnosed cardiovascular disease or cancer.
Also at the beginning of the study, researchers determined levels alcoholic beverages all women. This information is adjusted every four years, and the data on stroke replenished every two years. It turned out that women who daily drank one serving of alcohol, the risk of stroke was 17-21% lower than those who did not drink alcohol.
However, the cost increase consumption of alcoholic beverages above the one serving as the risk of stroke increased the hour. At the same time moderate drinking reduces the risk of both types of stroke - ischemic and hemorrhagic. The frequency of the use of hormones, multivitamins, physical activity, cholesterol, and family history of heart attacks and strokes in both groups of women were similar.
This study will be published soon in the journal Stroke. It was another proof that moderate alcohol consumption (no more than one glass of wine per day for women and two for men) is much healthier than the refusal of alcohol.
