Maternal mortality in the US is growing

Maternal mortality in the US is growing The organization "Amnesty International" has raised the issue of the high level of maternal mortality in the United States. Representatives of organizations are considering this issue as an example of the flagrant violation of women's rights.

The report of the organization says that the probability death women during childbirth   US five times higher than in Greece, four times higher than in Germany, and three times higher than in Spain.

Every day in the US die an average of two women because of birth complications. Statistical data: in 1987 per 100 000 births, on average, 6, 6 deaths. In 2006, the number of deaths has doubled and amounted to 13, 3 per 100 000 births.

" Amnesty International "Confident that in reality these figures are much higher. According to the organization, half of the cases could have been avoided death. These deaths were the result of systematic errors in the delivery of care and negligence of medical staff. These reports indicate that African-American women die in childbirth   four times more white women.

The report lists in detail the factors that ultimately lead to a tragic outcome. Monitoring the health of women is still not up to par. This is especially true of women from families with low social status. In addition, in some cases of obstetric intervention (caesarean section), the risk was justified and led to maternal deaths .

The organization prepared a report for the data transmission to the White House and the Ministry of Health. They believe that the authorities should pay more attention to this problem and take the necessary steps to remedy the situation.
