Flu shots do not work at full

Flu shots are less effective for overweight people, according to scientists from the University of North Carolina in the United States. Scientists say obesity leads to disruption of the immune response to the vaccine.

Guinea took people who were vaccinated in 2009, normal trivalent vaccine. Virus antibodies were formed in all people, regardless of their weight. Nevertheless, half of obese people, antibody levels decreased during the year four times. Among people with normal weight similar decrease in the body's defense was only observed in 25 percent of cases.

Specific protein interferon-Y, which fights infection, formed only 25 percent obese. But in people with normal weight, it was observed in 75 percent of cases.
Therefore, scientists warn - risk ill with flu during the annual epidemic significantly increased in obese people. Their immune system can work well enough.
