In diseases of the heart does not blame cholesterol

In diseases of the heart does not blame cholesterol Cholesterol is considered to be the main threat to the heart. Upon reaching the age of thirty-five is necessary at least once a year to check the level of cholesterol in the blood, in time to learn about the threat of a heart attack, coronary heart disease or stroke. However, the study by researchers from the United States showed that at the heart of problems with the cardiovascular system is not an overabundance of cholesterol and low blood levels of important minerals for the heart.

According to the head of the research project by Andrea Rozanof at high risk of heart attack and stroke in humans is much more accurate than cholesterol levels, indicates the amount of magnesium in the blood. The researchers argue that this low level of magnesium, and not all cholesterol is associated with risk factors and symptoms of heart disease: hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, cardiac arrhythmia, angina pectoris.

Such a discovery is not the first time scientists. Rozanof and colleagues cite a study in 1957 in the United States known professor Midreda Seelig. Dr. Seelig studied the relationship between the level of magnesium and cardiovascular disease for more than 40 years - and came to the conclusion that the main provocateur of heart attacks and strokes in humans is a deficiency of magnesium in the blood system. The consequence of this deficiency are:

- high blood pressure,

- Artery plaque buildup,

- Hardening of soft tissue

- High cholesterol,

- The loss of elasticity of arteries - that is, all the basic factors of destruction of the cardiovascular system.

"Research in 1957 showed that low levels of magnesium is the cause of atherogenesis and hardening of soft tissue. However, this work was ignored by the scientific community, resulting in cholesterol and saturated fat diet were the main culprits of the risk of cardiovascular disease. Surprisingly, the number of heart diseases in developed countries over the past fifty years has increased by 40%, simply because we have not paid attention to the risk factor "- quoted Andrea Rozanof edition Medical News Today.
