In lonely men living skin cancer are diagnosed at later stages, which increases the risk of death from this disease. This is the conclusion, researchers from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm.

These studies were based on analysis of 27 235 patients with malignant melanoma - the most aggressive and deadly form of skin cancer. If the disease is detected at an early stage, the cure rate is as much as 90%, but the outlook is getting darker with each successive stage of cancer.
Published in the journal Journal of Clinical Oncology study found that single men of all ages often die from the disease. More than others face the risk of late diagnosis of skin cancer and living a lonely older women. However, melanoma on the last stage, the single women are not more likely than those who live with someone else.
As authors of the study, people who live alone more poorly informed about the disease, and they have caring partners who can notice any changes in the health and appearance of a loved one. (READ MORE)
