The Chinese anciently known medicinal properties of ginger, and a long time they use it to fight the illnesses of the stomach and intestines. Modern studies suggest that ginger is effective in the inhibition of the formation of inflammatory factors, as well as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

After a study on a group of thirty people, Dr. Suzanna Zick, a professor of medical school at the University of Michigan, and her team have found that ginger significantly reduces markers of colon cancer. During the study, each participant received a daily two grams of ginger root, or placebo for 28 days.

The researchers then measured the levels of inflammatory factors in the colon and found a statistically significant reduction in the majority of inflammatory markers. In studies conducted before it became known that the inflammation of the colon, in most cases, are the precursors of cancer.

Ginger root effectively fights with the level of prostaglandins, and thus reduces the risk of cancer. Dr. Zeke long been exploring the possibility of medicinal plants and natural medicine because they provide an opportunity to improve their health without the need for toxic pharmaceuticals.

Currently, scientists are looking for safe methods of preventing cancer, and in this respect their interest in medicinal plants will increase. Scientists advised to consume 250 mg daily of ginger to reduce the severity of inflammatory responses, and reduce the risk of colon cancer.
