A team of scientists from the University of Iowa, USA, held a number of quite bizarre research. Experts managed to find out that in humans there are at least 39 genes that are responsible for the development of alcohol dependence.
This applies both to the male population and the female. The last of them, suffer from Alcoholism much more often than men, for the past several decades.
According to scientists, this discovery will help to create a truly effective drug in the treatment of alcoholism. In addition, the new drug will be effective not only in treatment but also in the constant prevention of addiction to alcohol.
It is worth noting that according to the only official statistics, more than 9 percent of US citizens deemed to have problems alcohol.
