Plastic surgery in Venezuela is life threatening

In Venezuela, hiking in the clinic of beauty is fun, which is compatible with the risk of their lives. And all because of the fact that the local industry of plastic surgery is widely used in the practice of biopolymers.

From January to October this year, the supervisory authority in the health sector in Venezuela has received about 400 complaints of illegal use biopolymers for aesthetic purposes. In less serious cases, the substance is transformed into a solid silicone or gel, which is quite difficult to remove from the body. It leads to a deformation of the skin, as reported by members of the Community of Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic and Maxillofacial Surgery Venezuela. According to local plastic surgeons, more than 45 thousand people in the country (80% of them women) each year go through surgery to enhance physical attractiveness.

Despite the high cost of such procedures, many Venezuelans go to the clinic to correct any physical defect, to gain eternal youth and flawless beauty. Some of these centers employ uncertified doctors who injected his patients and substance, like biopolymers   on a vegetable or benzine.

In 2011, 866 victims of biopolymers become a man who hoped to become more beautiful. All observed deformation of the face and body, caused by the use of the substance. However, most of the victims of this substance is too ashamed of what happened to them, and so do not complain, so the exact number of victims is difficult to determine.

Note that in the United States and the European Union banned the sale of biopolymers. In Venezuela, the prohibition on the use of biopolymers for cosmetic purposes was followed in December 2011.
