Men have long suspected that they are about to become extinct as a species. American researchers decided to find out what the gender perspective in humanity, and found that the special cause for concern about the number of men there.
In order to explain the essence of this discovery, make a little excursion into the past. The Y-chromosome (deciphered in 2003) - a certain set of genes responsible for the sex of the person. This chromosome contains, inter alia, SRY gene, defining male organism, and genes necessary in the process of formation of spermatozoa. Men, as you know, this is one chromosome, while women do not have it at all, but there are two X chromosomes.
Employees of the laboratory of Professor David Page (under whose leadership was decoded Y-chromosome) found that the age of the chromosome numbers from 200 to 300 million. Years and that during this time in the chromosome occurred a significant change: it is enough to say that she had lost the entire set of original gene, now instead of 1400 genes only 45 therein.
Because of this discrepancy, some geneticists have found that it is - a reference to the extinction of man as a biological species. Peculiar fear increased another study in which mutations have compared the two Y-chromosomes - human and chimpanzees.
The current "survey" more soothing: American scientists compared the process of gradual mutation male chromosome with the process of chromosome mutations distant relatives of modern man - male rhesus monkeys (our ways parted with them 25 million. Years ago).
As a result of this survey it was found that despite numerous geneticists assert that Y-chromosome modern man has undergone significant mutations and should disappear in the near future, could soon disappear forever, "a significant difference between them." In other words, men still have a purely genetic chances exist on planet Earth for a number of millions of years.
